Skellenger Bender testifies in favor of SB 5833 Certificate of Merit Bill
On February 16, 2007, Skellenger Bender attorney Beth Andrus and Jim Miller, CEO of GeoEngineers, Inc., testified in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee in Olympia, Washington in favor of Senate Bill 5833. This bill would mandate that, at the time of filing a complaint against any design professional, the claimant must also file a certified statement from a licensed design professional attesting to the fact that probable cause exists to believe that the design professional violated the standard of care. The bill passed out of the Senate Judiciary Committee on February 28, 2007, and out of the Rules Committee on March 10, 2007, but did not reach the floor of the Senate for a vote.
